Walter does not appear in the pedigrees of either branch of the Prideaux family seated at Adeston and Orcheton, Devon.1J. Maclean, Trigg Minor, ii. 218-41; Vivian, Vis. Devon, 616-17. On the occasions, apart from his election to Parliament, that he is mentioned in the records, it was to do with transactions concerning property in or near Plymouth: he was referred to in a petition addressed to the bishop of Winchester when chancellor as being a feoffee of property in the town; in 1427 Michael Archdeacon, the treasurer of Exeter cathedral, granted him and his heirs messuages in ‘Mayneston’ in the nearby manor of Compton Gifford; and he brought suits for trespass and debt in 1427 and 1430 at royal courts held at Plympton.2C1/26/112; H.R.
