Wyndout witnessed deeds at Tavistock from 1360 onwards,Tavistock Parish Recs. ed. Worth, 69-71, 77; Add. Chs. 29077, 29081; Devon RO, Bedford ms B117/2. and in 1370 he was one of 12 burgesses who joined the abbot and convent in an appeal for alms towards the repair and maintenance of the bridge over the Tavy. He may have been a tin miner, for in 1374 he brought suits in the court of the stannary at Tavistock. Last recorded in May 1390, Wyndout then granted to the keepers of the light in the parish church an annual rent of 2s. from a house and garden next to the abbot’s mill, his purpose being to provide for the keeping of the anniversaries of his and his wife’s deaths. In the event, however, these obits were paid for by rents from other properties, including a meadow in Crelake, a park in Whitham and lands at Pixon, all of which Richard Julkin occupied in right of his wife, Joan, who was perhaps Wyndout’s daughter.Tavistock Parish Recs. 9, 109; SC2/168/33 m. 1; Bedford mss D117/4, D84/22, S21 ff. 122-4.
