BROOMFORD, John (c.1385-1429), of Broomford in Jacobstowe, Devon.

In the Easter term of 1412 John rendered his father’s accounts as escheator of Devon and Cornwall to the barons of the Exchequer, and he was again at Westminster in the following year for Henry V’s first Parliament. Said to be aged 30 at the time of his father’s death in 1415, he probably took immediate possession of most of the family lands in Cornwall and of the manor of Broomford in Devon (indeed, he presented to the living of Jacobstowe in July 1416), but was not officially granted seisin of certain lands held of the King in chief until February 1417.E368/184 m. 9; CFR, xiv. 189; Feudal Aids, vi. 236, 237, 240, 459, 495; Reg.
