Henry Catchpole II was distinguished from Henry I by his description on the electoral return of 1390 as ‘junior’. He may have been the latter’s son, or, indeed, the son of John Catchpole, the MP of 1372, who in fact then offered sureties for his appearance in Parliament. It was probably he who had witnessed in May 1379 a grant by Henry I to the vicars of the cathedral;
