Colyn was living in Arundel by 1361, when he was fined in the borough court for offences against the assize of bread. He served as a juror at the inquest held at Arundel in February 1380, following the death of John, Lord Arundel, and again in May 1387 at the inquisition post mortem on Joan, the wife of Sir Edward St. John.
