When, in 1391, Gate was returned to Parliament for Wareham for the second time, it was only shortly after he had relinquished the post of bailiff of the town. In 1409 he became a feoffee of lands in Wiltshire, Hampshire, and Dorset for Robert Craford of Wareham.Dorset Feet of Fines, ii. 241.
