biography text

Newsham was returned at St. Mawes on the Craggs interest, which had been inherited by his step-father, Robert Nugent. Though descended from a family that had been settled in Warwickshire since the 14th century, and connected through his mother with a number of prominent parliamentarians, he took little part in politics. He seems to have attended the House infrequently, and did not stand in 1761.

He died in France, November 1769.
