John Avery I was Chipplegh’s surety for attendance at the Parliaments of May 1382 and 1385; and Richard Juel, then coroner of Salisbury, did him a like service in 1394. Meanwhile, Chipplegh had himself similarly sponsored Robert Chyke when elected for Old Sarum to the second Parliament of 1383.1C219/8/6, 9, 9/1, 10.
